MOMRAH issues the guide of “Requirements for the Disposal of Construction, Demolition, and Renovation Waste”

The Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing has announced issuing the guide of "Requirements for the Disposal of Construction, Demolition, and Renovation Waste" as part of its efforts to reduce visual distortion, regulate the management of construction, demolition, and renovation waste, establish systematic disposal mechanisms according to standardized criteria, and emphasize the importance of compliance with the guidelines. This is aimed at improving the urban landscape, preserving properties, and reducing encroachment on public facilities, streets, and open spaces.

MOMRAH clarified that construction, demolition, and renovation waste are factors contributing to visual distortion, which they seek to address by modifying the requirements for proper disposal and outlining them in construction permits (for building, demolition, and renovation). The guide obligates stakeholders such as project owners, engineering offices, transporters, and others to comply with and achieve the requirements starting from April 1st, 2024, to avoid penalties for non-compliance.

The guide specifies the mechanisms for the proper disposal of construction, demolition, and renovation waste, including a set of requirements ensuring their transportation to designated disposal sites managed by the Municipality. This includes waste generated from building construction, infrastructure works, demolition, maintenance, renovation, and rehabilitation of buildings, such as bricks, concrete, rubble, iron, plastics, and hazardous materials.

MOMRAH invites project owners, property owners, engineering offices, contractors, and transporters to review the guide of "Requirements for the Disposal of Construction, Demolition, and Renovation Waste", which includes various requirements and provisions.
